The nonpartisan Congress.org (http://www.congress.org/congressorg/power_rankings/index.tt) released rankings of the most powerful legislators in Congress this week, and just as interesting as the newly empowered were those hovering at the bottom of the list. Predictably, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid topped the list, and the list quickly moved to committee chairmen with muscle.
The rankings took into account the legislators' ability to get things done by the traditional paths of leadership positions and committee assignments but left room for the "sizzle" factor -- reserved for those who "exert or possess power that can't be measured by these standard measures." Specifically mentioned in this category were three presidential candidates, Sens. John McCain (18th), Hillary Clinton (12th) and Barack Obama (27th).
Sen. Elizabeth Dole, sadly, was not given points for sizzle -- or much else, for that matter. She ranked as the 95th most powerful senator. Yes, that is out of 100. Vying for the bottom rung was also Sen. George Voinovich, who despite serving since 1998 ranked 90th. And as if he hasn't already had a bad year (or two), Rep. William Jefferson came in dead last in the House, awarded negative "fizzle" points due to scandal. Being accused of stashing a $90,000 bribe in his freezer was bound to affect something, since it tipped neither his reelection campaign nor his ability to get a committee assignment.

Hi All,
Now I have some questions regarding the process after getting Visa. I have read threads about airlines and medical insurance on this forum.
I was wondering if someone can shed light on finally what is a good medical insurance to buy, my father is 65 and mom is 60 and both have health issues.
Please let me know which insurance to buy which will cover their international travel plus stay in US
Also, please let me know which airlines are good for parents. I am east coast. My parents will definitely need assistance and I am also looking for someway I can have some travel companion for them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks a ton.

I have a frame on my main Window.xaml, when I click a link on the main Window, a Page.xaml page should appear. Only when I click the link, the page should load, but the page like auto runs without even displaying the main window. The main Window disappears in a flash and the Page.xaml appears. What should I do??

My H1 is expired and i am working in EAD now. I am going for vacation next week. I dont have valid I94 (as my H1 is expired, my I94 also expired), does it cause any problem when i reentry?

Folks,
I just realized that I forgot to add a piece of my employment history to the DS-160. I only realized it once I set up the appointment for H1-B stamping through VFS. I have all the corroborating paperwork (W2, paystub etc.) for that period. Do I need to re-do the DS-160? I already have an appointment and if I cancel the appointment and re-do the DS160 I might run the risk of not getting the date of my choosing. The problem is my existing company is a "successor in interest" of the company I forgot to mention. That is, I got my I-797 from this previous company.
Please not that the facts in the existing DS 160 are true. It is just that I realized that there is a gap that I might have to fill.

You should pay taxes in PA.
In case your employer is running the payroll from MI, then file MI taxes as Non resident and PA as resident. You will get credit for paying non resident taxes in MI on PA's state tax form.
Don't pay resident taxes in the state where you are not staying. I got this info from a HR block tax consultant..

Hi!
I need to know when can I fly back to US on my H4 visa(valid till 2011 ).
My husband has joined a new job and his H1 B transfer has been filed .
Do I have to wait for new I 797 or Can I just travel on my old H4 visa and
visa transfer receipt notice .( he is filing the H1 transfer by premium processing ) .
His new employer is suggesting me to reenter on old h4 and before my husband
joins their company .
But for me that will be very soon ( not fulfilling the purpose of my visit ).
Any help is much appreciated.:confused:
