u cannot roll into a roth directly. u have to roll into a regular ira and then to a roth.
but the earlier statement made sense.. dont withdraw immidiately..wait till the next yr and then withdraw from ira..so ur taxes will be 10% penalty and ur tax rate at that time...which will depend on the value of ur 401k.
so if make 80k now and are in the 25% bracket and u have 80k in 401k then u ll have to pay taxes equivalent to the 25% bracket.
but if u make 80k and have 20k in 401k then u r bracket will be the lowest one.

It�s good that at least some of us are getting VISAs, instead of VISAs being lost.
However if this continues we could see a big movement to switch over to EB2 with or without porting PDs. This may in turn help EB3 :)
We need to make this a sticky thread, so that we can brainstorm and put best ways to switch from EB3 to EB2 w/keeping older PDs.

Hope your ideas or similar ones work. But seriously�.. if someone isn�t contributing 50/100 bucks, will he/she be willing to get IV credit cards.
From my experience I would like to say contribution is simple. Hard part for me was to convince myself that this was right thing to do. I don�t think it will be about monitory constraints for most of us.
While we are brainstorming constructive ideas, I would like to suggest some fund raising ideas. ( I have posted this kind of ideas earlier but no solid response.)

Why do you try and find an excuse to do less? IV never said stop sending once we get to 10000... or 20000.... We should try and get AS MANY LETTERS AS POSSIBLE. Aim high my friends.
U got me wrong ,my dear needhelp.I dont need an excuse .What i am doing or have done is not becos of compulsion from anyone.U say as if u have paid me to do.Whatever every one is doing is to fight a common issue.BTB i have clearly mentioned that i will be gettig involved in anymeasures endorsed by the core,meaning i wont like to involve in demands by any passer by henceforth to send this send that etc etc.A simple issue is during the omnibus campign someone asked me for my name address and other details.Now he wanted my phone number to talk to.I mentioned to him to give his that i can speak to him.For that he is not interested.If this guy such a coward to even discuss his identity the why the heck does he campign for million letters and demand others identity.
But my point here was if we want to wait for million siggies for the core to get involved as mentioned by D2K,then it is not worth sending letters.I might get my GC with a PD july 2007 before we collect 1 million letters even with the current pace of USICIS.We find it difficult to get 1000 letters then u discuss about 1 million.Ok assume we sent 1 million letters.Is Bush going to have it safe and file all those papers and have that for discussion.By the time we collect 1 million letters we are increasing the Govtmnts expenditure in removing thrash from Bush's office.
Try to be realistic.Thats all my point is.
Earlier the dates were Feb 9th.I have been thinking that with those collected we/core is about to start a discussion with DC based on that .Now you say march .No one is stopping anyone from writing letters,but why cant we initiate discussion in parallel instead of waiting for 1 million number.I dont mind accompanying to DC is i have been informed atleast 15 days ahead. :)

I was 100% determined in the beginning to attend the rally, but could not for the following reasons.
1> I was in Dallas and family in SoCal for last 9 months(from Dec 2006 to be precise). I used to meet my family every other weekend. Was trying very hard to find a project in Socal, and finally I got one where joining date was Spet 13th. I could not dare to ask for leave in the very first week. To tell you the truth it took so long b'cos of H1 status, everybody wants me to transfer my H1 or they are looking only for GC/EAD holders. Hoping to get EAD soon.
2> My husband was planning to attend but somewhere in Aug last week we got FP notices and date is Sept 18th. The FP letter clearly mentioned that postponing might cause delays so we decided that he also has to drop the idea.
Of course we contributed towards the rally.
I am very proud to be part of such excellent grass root organization and now since I am in Irvine I can be active in Socal chapter.
Also we are eager to join in the next rally and have total faith in IV leadership.

You are certainly entitled to your interpretation and Mr. Gotcher is entitled to his but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a ploy to increase more traffic. I am not sure if you are an attorney but he is and he certainly has more understanding of immigration law than most of us here. As with any law and immigration in particular, there is room left for interpretation and Mr. Gotcher is simply stating his point of view. You are more than welcome to disagree with him but I wouldn't call him greedy.
According to posters on Mr Gotcher's forum, there are law firms that are already preparing class-action lawsuits on behalf of I-485 applicants who claim to have been disadvantaged by the change of interpretation in the April bulletin. I don't see anything wrong with Mr Gotcher discussing the issue to clarify different interpretations, and even determine whether these potential lawsuits have good chances of succeeding. This issue and potential outcomes are equally important to both EB-2 India and EB-3 ROW people.

If you have a good experience with your lawyer and are recommending the law firm, pls also try to talk to your lawyer about IV. Ask the law firm if they want to contribute/ or even publicize IV to their clients. If they agree to do it, please post here. If they refuse, pls post here.
So when you write about how good your lawyer is, pls also mention if the lawyer supports IV and the help that has been extended to IV.
This will help maintain a list of lawyers who are recommended by members and at the same time, help IV.

It clearly mentions that the immediate application of I-140 and I-485 applies to f-4 visa holders only that too if they find a job in their field within 1 yr of graduating. and on payin $1000
it remains to be seen which category is elgibile for f-4 (only phds or more). it is possible that some current students on f-1 will be eligible for conversion to f-4.
for rest of f-1 students it simply allows for 2 yr OPT instead of curretn 1 yr.
it also implies that the labor cert exemption does not apply to already graduated MS or PhD STEM degree holders with or without 3 yrs exp.

I think this guy is from numbers usa for sure. After writing all the BS, he asks it to take it in constructive way. There are lots of other way to express your concern if it had to taken in constructive way. This is definitely not the way.

We had several threads crying out for funds in very critical time senstive times. At those times you are a mere spectator and now just for posting this bashing post you reluctantly became a anonymous member. All these shows your LEADERSHIP skills and quality of leading the battle from FRONT. If I were in USCIS I would do a background check on these high qualities and ground breaking positive attitudes even before giving H1.
