you are a great leader. Just concentrate on different ways to succeed. you have just found a way that does not work. My suggestion for you is plan smaller meeting call 5 members in a group and meet at a location explain them and give them the handouts and tell them to meet 5 more people and give you the report. I think this may work.

just changed job and Sep 18th was my first day at new job. Because of some silly mistakes of paralegal from previous company I have to restart my GC journey from scratch ...:(. Actually I do not need GC just need EAD for my wife.
Contribution til date:
1> Introduced 4-5 friends and they are now IV members ..
2>I tried to motivate friends to participate in rally who really wants to settle down here(Due to family reason I am not planning to settle down in US.).
3>I have been in constant touch with my senator Mr. Kohl(from WI) and his Immigration department. (His immigration department helped me a lot for my mom's visitor visa.)

If you friends spouse was on H1 then i think her current status with USCIS would be H1.
Since she is not working with the current employer she need to do the following things to void H1 status.
a) Start using EAD to work.
b) Use AP to re-enter the country.
c) Get H4 status change.
Otherwise her current status would be in H1.it could create some problem if beyond couple of weeks.

On a lighter note, I did watch sausages being made, and I can't eat them anymore.
That's why there is a saying that you should never watch sausages and laws being made.
The Cantwell amendment and Lieberman amendment will fail to pass the vote. It doesnt matter whether its ordered to lie on table or whether its ordered to take a nap on the table or have some lemonade on the table. And it doesnt matter what any of those "Motion to... " means.
Both of those amendments, if debated, will fail. It will take 10 seconds for Bernie Sanders, Ted Kennedy and Dick Durbin to scream on top of their lungs and kill it. And the reason is very simple. There is a massive H1B exemption ON TOP OF 180,000 QUOTA. People who have been so successful this year so far in restricting H1 and employment based GCs are not going to miss that nice little H1 exemption at the bottom of both these amendments. So stop scratching your heads over what the "lying on table" means, because whatever is lying on table is unpassable if it somehow awakes from the table and starts dancing in the well of the senate floor.

EAD is free only for post July 30-2007 filers. We are their forever cows, they'll milk us as far as they can. Otherwise somebody tell me why 2 year EAD why not 3, why not 2 year AP, why june 30 for 2 years EAD why couldn't they do it with immediate effect or may be 1 week from announcement. They just bought more time to process everything with 1 year

If you read the postings in this thread itself you would be surprised to see that some consider this as controversial. You are not writing your life off just because you married a H1B visa holder. It also happens that majority of H4 holdes are woman and hence unable to express their views. - a perfect case of lack of visibility.

Its good that we have a democratic majority in congress. we also now have work cutout for us to contact new lawmakers. getting more members and members willing to work for local chapters is important at this time. we need to work with renewed vigour now and finish our task. pls help with increasing membership and join your state level chapter threads. I see only very few members have posted their interest. we need interest from each member in order to succeed. I am sure we will succeed. The good times are ahead of us but we need to take advantage of it.
